Hitmatic works differently from traditional server statistics platforms, which typically use a method known as log file analysis. Our method not only avoids costly hardware and software purchases, it also permits better accuracy, greater detail, live reporting and faster implementation.

Once you have opened an account with us, we request that you embed the bespoke Hitmatic code that we have provided into the HTML of your web pages. Once this simple copy, paste and upload operation has taken place, Hitmatic can begin recording data from your website.

From this point onwards, when a visitor requests a page from your website, their client software not only connects to your web server, but also to Hitmatic servers. At this stage, we will allocate the visitor a Cookie (a small text file that resides on their computer) containing a unique identification code. This code allows Hitmatic to record the visitor’s path through your website, and identify any subsequent visits they make at a later date.

The Hitmatic code will then check for the presence of this Cookie, and using JavaScript, will capture additional information about the visitor's environment (such as the software and hardware used, the default language, local time-zone, etc). This information will then be sent back to the Hitmatic servers, which will record additional information available from the server side of the connection. This information is then processed and made immediately available within your Hitmatic report.
